Drugstore & MAC Haul

So again, I went spending last weekend and this weekend and picked up some pretty great stuff from Boots, Superdrug and MAC (I fancied a treat)

I didn't go too crazy seen as I had previously spent money on other cosmetics for two weeks in a row before this spend.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in Beige £9.99 from Superdrug.

I've been after a low end foundation for quite some time now and have been hearing good things about Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. I use Elizabeth Arden Perfectly Nude Foundation, but it was that expensive its not something that I want to use every single day, so I wanted a cheaper alternative.
I love Bourjois, they're one of my top 3 brands so I decided to give this a go.
Coverage wise it is very good, it covered all the things I wanted covering on my face.
My skin looked flawless all day and I had this incredible glow to my face, to the point where people were commenting how well I looked!
Very impressed with this product.

Barry M Lip Pencil in 2 - Dark Pink £2.99 from Superdrug.

I picked this little gem up from Superdrug as I only seem to own a plum and red liner for my lips.
It's your basic lip liner pencil and quite a bargain, considering there are lip liners out there going for between £10-£15.
I used this yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that upon application there was no tugging or pulling at my lips and the liner lasted all day along with my lipstick.

Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder in Medium £7.99 from Boots.

Although I bought a foundation I also wanted a good quality pressed powder for the days when I'm just not feeling wearing foundation.
Revlon is a brand that I really love, so I picked up this Nearly Naked Powder that boasts seamless blending, with a lightweight feel that evens the skin tone.
I'm wearing the powder today and I really like it. It has the coverage of a foundation but it doesn't feel or look like I'm wearing anything on my skin, which is a bonus!

Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow in On and on Bronze £4.99 from Boots.

This is a product that has been on my must-have list for quite some time now, so you can imagine my joy when it was finally back in stock in Walsall Boots!
It is everything I expected it to be and more. The formula is lovely as is the colour.
I applied this using a fluffy eye brush and it blended like a dream and honestly didn't budge one bit until I removed it with micellar water in the early hours of this morning.
I wore this yesterday and blended a rose coloured eyeshadow into the crease and outer corners for a really pretty rose gold look.

Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain in Honey £7.99 from Boots.

Another product on my must-have list, which was sold out everywhere until Friday was the Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain in Honey.
I was after this for weeks on end after seeing it in one of EssieButton's videos.
I fell in love with the colour, and seeing as only pink nudes suit me I thought 'what the hey' and picked it up.
The product is a chubby stick which I love and smells of peppermint upon application.
It's a very sweet pink colour and looked really lovely with my bronze eyeshadow, lots of mascara and flushed cheeks today.
When the balm had wore off I was left with a very subtle, yet pretty stain.

Soap & Glory Supercat Fat Jumbo Carbon Black Ink Eyeliner £7.00 from Boots.

As mentioned in my latest videos this is my go to liquid liner to create the perfect feline flicks.
So I was excited when Soap & Glory released a jumbo version of this product.
When I took the lid off the liner it was like I had a black marker in my hand but when I applied it, it was the easiest cat flick I have ever done.
And you can build the shape and height of your flick with ease thanks to the shape of the nib.
Its also super pigmented and lasts ages.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Mono Eyeshadow in Golden Nude 204 £5.49 from Boots.

I've started experimenting more with eye looks since I started wearing lenses and had the idea for a gold, bronze and brown smokey eye.
I was browsing through the eyeshadows in the L'Oreal section and came across this little beaut. I love the texture of the shadow, it not powdery at all, it feels creamy and is highly pigmented. It glides onto the eye with ease with no fall out.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara in Transparent £4.99 from Boots.

I have next to no eyebrows so everyday I have to fill my eyebrows in with Illamasqua's Eyebrow Cake in Thunder to make them look more full, and while they look good with powder I wanted to make my eyebrows look more realistic so I have been after a gel to neaten my almost non-existent brows.
I picked this up in Transparent and I really love it.
The brush is really something, a detailed ball brush that picks up just the right amount of gel to sweep across the eyebrows.
It gave my eyebrows a natural finish and a bit more shape and the gel held them in place all day.

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Waterproof Mascara £19.00 from MAC.

I love mascaras so anything that makes my eyelashes look huge and fluttery I'm all over like a tramp on chips.
So after I had been to Boots and Superdrug I wondered into MAC with the intention of buying a new lipstick (which we will get to in a moment).
I went over to the mascara stand and was immediately sought out by one of the assistants asking if I needed help.
I explained that I was after a mascara that will make my eyelashes look big but not clumpy and I wanted a mascara that would define and lengthen my outer lashes.
She pointed me to this mascara and said that everything I had just mentioned could be achieved with this mascara. I had this in the waterproof finish because with this weather we've been having just lately, the cold wind makes my eyes stream, not a good look when you arrive to your destination looking like you've just been told that Ryan Gosling doesn't love you anymore.
I love this mascara so much, my eyes look lovely once I have applied it, and although the last post I wrote, gushing over the new Benefit mascara, this mascara ticks all the boxes and I do want to use this up first seen as it cost me almost £20.

MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl £15.50 from MAC.

I'm also a huge sucker from highlighters and I have more highlighters than I do blushers, I just love the highlighted cheekbone look.
So once the assistant in MAC had grabbed my mascara for me I asked about a good cream highlighter that I could just apply with my fingers when I'm in a rush.
She pointed out this little pot of joy to me and I was sold in the first couple of seconds of her swatching it for me on her arm.
It a gorgeous pearl shimmer that I have been applying to my cheekbones, cupid's bow and brow bone every day and I am more than impressed with the results. Plus, I'm getting a lot of use out of this and I don't seem to be making a dent.

MAC Lipstick All Fired Up in Retro Matte £15.50 from MAC.

This is what I actually went into MAC for.
I told the assistant that I was after a vibrant dark pink for the Spring and she swatched this shade on her arm and I fell head over heels.
All Fired Up is a pinky red with hints of fuchsia and is just gorgeous.
I have Ruby Woo and Diva in matte finish so I knew what the texture, application and longevity of the lipstick would be so I decided on this shade.
I've been wearing it for a week now and everyone I know loves it and I love how it looks on my lips.
Its such a pretty shade for the Spring and I've had my eye on Lickable, Brave and Morange for a while so next time I pop in I will snap those up too.

So all in all a very successful haul in two weeks and I got some really gorgeous products that I can't wait to use more of.

What are your latest buys?

  1. The l'Oréal eye shadow looks amazing!
I did a review on the Color Tattoo cream shadows a few days ago: http://charlinehasablog.blogspot.be/2015/01/color-tattoo-review.html
It's quit a bit more expensive in Belgium though, I see... what a shame! I really love it though ;)

  2. It's beautiful! If I don't use it as an eyeshadow all the time I think it would look amazing in the corner of the eye to brighten them up a bit! Ooh will check your posts out now :) I think I want more shades in the Colour Tattoo now!
